Rehlko's KD Series Gets an Upgrade
Rehlko’s (formerly Kohler Energy) award-winning KD series just got better. In the spirit of constant improvement, KD Series generators for mission critical applications have taken a leap forward with upgraded engine designs that boost performance, cut emissions, and prepare for alternative fuels. This ongoing evolution ensures that the KD Series will deliver exceptional power for data centers. Here’s what you need to know:
What are the new improvements all about?
In a nutshell, the design upgrade means generators from the KD2000 to the KD3750 will benefit from improved transient performance, lower NOx, and a weight reduction of around 2000 pounds.
What does this mean for the average data center?
The new design offers several key advantages for data centers:
Alternative Fuels
The new model is configured to support future use of green hydrogen and ammonia, further supporting ESG initiatives
Easier Access
The control unit relocation and starter reconfiguration streamline servicing and reduce lifecycle ownership costs
Less Floor Load
The total weight of the generator is 2,000 pounds lighter, making for easier installation and relocation
Lower Emissions
These new models emit fewer NOx emissions, further reducing harmful pollutants to advance net zero goals
Which engines have been upgraded?
The design changes were made to the KD62V12A and KD83V16A engines, which power the following 2000-to-4000 kW generators from the KD Series:
- KD2000
- KD2250
- KD2500
- KD2800
- KD3000
- KD3250
- KD3500
What else has been changed?
Nothing! Our new design still comes from our top-notch design, manufacturing, and testing processes. The KD Series also still includes Rehlko’s best-in-class warranty, service, parts, and installation services.
What’s the bottom line?
The bottom line is that we’re taking another step in giving data centers confidence in their backup power both now and in the future. As our flagship product for data centers, we're dedicated to the ongoing enhancement of our KD Series mission-critical generators. These engine upgrades that boost performance, simplify operation, and support a shift towards more sustainable practices ensure that our generators continue to offer outstanding emissions and power density, demonstrating that we’re in lockstep with the needs of data center leaders around the world.
